The Heidelberg Cricket Club will be fielding several Girls teams in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association (DVCA) Junior Girls competition (entering it's fourth year).  This is a competition for girls aged 10-16. The competition is currently made up of over 10 clubs in the DVCA. This competition has doubled in size since its inception and is growing each season with more and more girls wanting to play cricket.

As the competition grows, it will be expanded with multiple age groups and divisions.

The competition currently plays games on a Wednesday night starting at 5pm, and normally finishing around 7.30. A modified T20 format is used (similar to the Big Bash League!) to cater for all abilities and to provide guidance for the girls to develop their skills, enjoy learning the game and meet other girls who share the same interest in cricket.

Heidelberg Cricket Club is a passionate supporter of Girls cricket and is looking to attract interested Girls wanting to play cricket.  If you are looking for a friendly club, and are wanting to play (maybe for the first time), then Heidelberg is the club for you.

In the 2022-23 Season, we will be running a program dedicated and focused on developing the cricketing skills for girls, and encourage you to come down and have a go.

If there are any girls who are interested in trying cricket, simply register your interest, and we will get in touch prior to the start of the 2022/23 season.  Players of all levels - even beginners who have never played before - will be welcome, and made to feel part of the club from the very beginning.

Junior Girls

The Junior Girls competition will be divided into two Age Groups - U/13 and U/16.

Grading will be broken up into 3 grades :-

"Beginner" - Has NOT played before

"Medium" - Has played before, but still developing their skills

"Accomplished" - Skills well developed, plays at a competitive level.

NOTE: Age Cut-Off for players is determined by their age as of the 1st September.  For example, For Under 16s, the player must be under 16 on 1st September.

 Senior Women

Senior Women's cricket will be played for those over 16, and will have both a competitive competition, and a "social" competition.

Ladies, and Girls over 16 wanting to play for the first time, are encouraged to join the Social competition and there may be an opportunity for a "Mothers/Daughters" team depending on numbers applying.

 Information for Parents:

  • Parents are always welcome, and encouraged, to watch the games from the sidelines, and cheer on the players.  Many friendships have been formed this way (Both between parents and players), and the social side of being involved in a cricket club is an excellent way to meet new friends.
  • Parents are encouraged to bring along food/drinks (and maybe a bottle of wine!) to the game to enjoy during play, and this contributes to the games being a fun social event for all involved.
  • Each team has a coach and team manager, and support is given to those wanting to volunteer for these roles.  Training for Team Managers, and guidance for coaches is provided by the club.  Last season, the club has moved to electronic scoring on iPads, making it VERY easy to score for new parents.
  • For those interested in volunteering, an information/training evening will be held for new parents to learn how to score, and explain what is involved in being a Team Manager.  As fixtures/schedules are run via the MyCricket Website/App (, this automates updates to players/parents about games, so very little admin work is involved - less than 1hr per week.
